I didn't sleep very well after I got done panicking yesternight. I kept waking up from nightmares where monsters were eating my mind or tricking me into feeding them someone else's mind (variously Voidsy's or Boomsy's or Studies-Too-Hard's or Dad-Dad's or Dadsy's) or possessing my body and killing everyone I know or ... you get the idea. They were pretty horrible.

When I gave up (a few hours after dawn), I went out to see my friends and relations and make sure everyone was alive. Including Voidsy, though he wasn't very happy to see me.

Void-Dancer was in the sanctuary when I showed up, and he intercepted me after I waved to him. "A third visit this week? To what do I owe this ... unexpected honor? Don't tell me: you've discovered there's a monster hiding in the back of your closet which devours spirits? You have acquired a new vocation in demon-summoning but your first attempt has gone awry and is liable to imperil the city? An Aquador elemental has taken residence in your inkwell and ink threatens to flood your home every time you open it?"

I drooped and scuffed at the white line with one toe. "Nooooo. Sorry. I just came because -- " I wanted to make sure you weren't eaten by my nightmares, I didn't say " -- I forgot to mention last night, Sythyrs says 'Hiio!' Oh wait no Vae says that. Sythyrs says 'Hallo.' Zie wanted you to know about what happened with one of zir clients and a Locador angel. The son of two of zir clients rather. Former clients now since they robbed zir. Anyways zie said to tell you about hCevian. It's probably easier if you read it for yourself." I offered him the scroll.

He took it as if he expected it to bite him. "I truly do have work to do. Beyond your crisis du heure. May I review this later today? I'll return it before sunout,"

I nodded. "'m gonna visit Dad-Dad and Dadsy today. D'ya want me to say hallo for you or anything?"

Void-Dancer shook his head. "No, that is not necessary. Good day, Delight-in-Justice."

I waved again and slunk out.

Vheshrame Academy is between the Temple of Reflections in the Void and my parents' place so I went thataway next. I stopped by Wellsome House first to see if anyone was around -- Studies-Too-Hard doesn't live there but he visits often -- and Trust was in.

"Why hallo Dee! ♥ How does the day find you?" Trust talks to most Primes like they're his favorite person in the whole world. He's a long-furred Cani, currently colored with a white undercoat and a deep red overcoat down his back and arms and hair and framing his face, leaving his lower arms and most of his face white. And his lower legs and inner thighs and chest too but you can't tell that with clothing on. I only know because I did his fur last week. He lives at Wellsome House with a Herethroy and two Rassies and an Orren instead of in a longhouse like Cani usually do because he's nose-deaf and doesn't get on with most Cani.

"Tired! You?"

"I'm wonderful! ♥ Thank you so much for asking! ♥ I was just going to the market to do some shopping. Would you like to join me?"

"I was looking for Studies-Too-Hard actually -- " I started to say. Trust's tail and ears drooped. " -- but I'm not doing anything important to-day and I don't know where he is anyways so sure."

My Cani friend wagged his tail with enthusiasiam, ears perking. "Thank you, Dee! ♥"

Trust wanted to go to the Golden Square Market. The shops and stalls there cater mainly to Cani and sell perfume and incense and foodstuffs and spices and sauces. Trust doesn't bother with the perfumes and incense but he likes the food even if he can't taste it as well as a regular Cani. On the way there we passed the post office and I saw Purrzhon outside, using Ruloc Corpador to float a quil-pen before him so he could write on a leaf. It looked like a pretty annoying way to write. I waved cheerfully to him. "Hallo Purrzhon!"

Trust cowered behind me. "Dee? Is that the Sleeth you're waving to?"

"Uh huh! I met him the other day at the university." I waved again, but Purrzhon was ignoring me. Trust siezed my arm and dragged me into a spice shop. He got some cinnamon sticks and ground arhoolie leaf paste and had to ask for offirah at the counter because its smell is so strong that they store it in a special cabinet in back. After that we stopped at the bakery next door and I got poptaloops to bring to my parents later and then we went to the butcher which is where the trouble started.

The Sleeth is engaging in the conspicuous ignoring of Delights-ful Orrens! How very Sleeth! If you wish to gain the attention of the Sleeth, there are several options:

- Ignore the Sleeth very conspicuously while performing some action you do not want the Sleeth to notice. This will ensure the Sleeth's nose is promptly stuck into your business.

- Handle shiny, crinkly, interesting-sounding and reflective objects. These will generally draw the Sleeth's attention as well. However, there is a risk of being Sleeth-pounced.

Or at least, these work for the near-Sleeth-like creatures of my world. ^_^
