Jul. 2nd, 2010 07:43 amTo My Dearest Delight-in-Justice and All Her New Friends:
What a charming and splendid gift! My delightful Delight, you have truly outdone yourself this time. Or your favorite deity has outdone himself on your behalf, judging by the conclusions at which you and your learned brother have arrived. Yet who are we to question the whims of gods? If it is the will of "Here" that I have such an elegant and powerful tool by which I may contact my dear cuz, well, it is hardly the most onerous burden that has ever been laid upon my sturdy tentacles.
I have spent a pleasant hour or two touring your recent writings, and confess I am tickled not only by the details you have supplied as regards your recent doings, but by the contributions of your recent acquaintences. I trust you will forgive me for taking the liberty of contributing to your own page rather than the one you so generously provided for me. Since one of your extradimensional friends inquired after my doings, I thought I should make my reply easy for them to uncover.
I am sorry to hear about your recent troubles. That Kijji creature is a few orders of magnitude worse than a bonstable, from the sounds of it, and to have it haunting your glorious creation is a dark blot indeed. But I trust your brother's judgement and shall have no fear of the beast's disturbing little remarks. But the loss of your guild membership -- alas, that is of more lasting concern. The loss of your job is no tragedy; your talents were wasted working for that abominable excuse for a pseudo-Prime. But your license -- ah! You are the most skillful fur-stylist in Vheshrame, and I hardly have need of fur myself to appreciate that. For the guild to suspend your membership is a great blow to mammals across the city. I pity them. Truly, I do.
If fur-styling is no longer of interest to you, however, have you considered pursuing haberdashery? Your peerless creativity could find release in the creation of magnificent head-coverings. Of course, I speak as a wholly disinterested third party whose bald head in no way would stand to gain from the mammals' loss.
Whatever the case, I have no doubt that you will find a career that suits you, coz. With the help of your gift to me, I also look forward to hearing about it as it develops. I am pleased that you have been so diligent about keeping us all updated!
For my own part, I am drumming for a new pentet. We call ourselves "Don't Go in It's a Tarp!" Yes, the exclamation mark is part of the name. Wingle Gutsawer is fiddling for us, and River-Aria is singing and playing the sitar. There's two others you don't know, Orziman and Ioste, who play tandem nadaswaram. We've made some terch busking in the park and the manager of Two Tent Tango invited us to perform at the end of the week. Expect a bit of a rough crowd from that, it being a Khtsoyis establishment, but we must start somewhere. I do worry that Orziman and Ioste are having second thoughts regarding the engagement. With luck, the actual performance will allay those fears.
But my income from this venture is a ways yet from covering the cost of mead, let alone any other of life's little expenses. Thus, I am maintaining my career at the docks, loading and unloading the cargo of airships. It is tedious and unengaging work, but simple enough and provides me with the remuneration that allows me to indulge in my hobbies.
I wish I had as much news as you to report, coz, but alas my employed state has left me with far fewer anecdotes than you. Do keep us all posted, D.
Your devoted cousin,

Date: 2010-07-02 06:53 pm (UTC)No doubt it suits some Khtsoyis to pretend to a degree of mental acuity less than their actual. True as well, it is convenient for many among the Prime races to believe my people are ignorant and untutorable, capable of naught but thuggery.
However, it is unwise to judge overmuch based on a manner of speaking, or writing as in our case. I write this way because I delight in language and because it pleases our hostess Delight to humor me. It does not make me a genius; indeed, there are many who choose to express themselves with simple words and plain manners and yet their brilliance in deed and performance indubitably far exceeds my own.
