Delight! If you can read this we need money NOW! Sevendrums got arrested and we don't have the lozens to pay the fine! He told me you were rich and that he uses this scroll to talk to you by writing in it. But I don't know if I'm doing it right! I hope I am because I don't know anyone else who's rich. So please please PLEASE read this!

It's me, Song-for-Always! You know me! Song-of-Songs? River-Aria? Sevendrums' bandmate? No it's not a joke! He was arrested! You have to help him!  I'm trying to raise money as a cley-seller. But I don't know where the cley-sellers go and my second customer was actually a city guard who threatened to arrest me.  So it's not going well.  PLEASE HELP SEND MONEY!

Sorry!  I think it's safe in here. 

Sevendrums told you we were going to perform for the Naked Parade, right?  The Naked Parade was yesterday.  We got to our position on the boardwalk early so we could get set up. We were all wearing normal clothes.  As normal as clothes get in hot Surprise, anyway. I had a spangled vest and a short skirt, and Sevendrums was wearing his plumed hat and drumming harness. The Rassies were overdressed in vests, loose pants, loose shirts, scarves, jewelry, whatever.  They looked very hot. I think they were wearing extra to make up for everyone else.  I am really tired of working with them. Even if they are good performers.

Anyway, Sevendrums set up his drum kit and took off his harness. It was getting sweaty, and he only needs it to carry his gear. We tuned up and warmed up before the parade started. Just before the start, I cast The Booming Voice on myself and our instruments so we could be heard over the crowd noise.

Then the parade began.  It was incredible!  Everyone was laughing and excited and having a great time!  People'd dance to our music all the way down the block and across the next. They loved us!  A lot of primes even stopped to listen for a song or two.  Some of them even threw coins!  Although not many because, you know.  No pockets.  But the energy level was just WONDERFUL!

I was working the crowd like I usually do, since I don't have an instrument that I need to stay beside. A bunch of primes were teasing us about being overdressed.  So I yelled, "Let's even it out!" and  snatched a scarf from each of the Rassies to toss to the crowd.  They went wild over it!  But the Rassies were all "WHAT?" When I tried to get another, Iska hissed at me and threatened to stop playing.

So I grabbed Sevendrums' hat instead.

 I wasn't going to throw it to the crowd!  I just kept it away from him for a minute.  He tried to grab it back with whatever tentacles he wasn't drumming with at the moment.  It  was crazy, watching him keep the beat while still trying to get the hat back.  The crowd loved it!  I let him get it back real quick.  Then he held onto it with a free tentacle. So I waited until the point in the song when he needed all seven to drum. And I stole it again. And let him get it back again. And stole it again.

Then as I was keeping it away from Sevendrums, one of the crowd took it from me. They started playing keep away with it, tossing it over our heads. I was trying to get it back for Seven!

And that's when the guard showed up.

Awesomepickles, a khtsoyis got arrested for being present when everyone else was getting naked. My guess is, he just didn't run away fast enough. :/

Did you guys at least get paid for your gig? I wonder if the fine was set high just because of that.

Yes ARGH how could they arrest him he wasn't even supposed to be PART of it ARGH and why isn't Song telling the rest of the story because OF COURSE I'll pay it but I need to know how much the fine is first!

Okay Song -- how much is the fine? Can you appeal the fine? Surely there is some way to challenge the fine on grounds that it was inappropriately handled? Did the guard follow all the proper procedures in giving him the fine? Can they prove they did so? Is there some legal challenge you can do that might render the fine null and void? Is there some stink about corruption you could raise with appropriate people to put the guard in as embarrassing enough of a possible position that they might relent and let him go without having to do a fine? What sorts of social maneuvering and leverage or advantages do you have or can you get for the purposes of this sort of thing?

Cley selling is illegal? Or is it a guild thing? Or are the guards in Daukrhame just going completely insane and arresting everyone for everything?!

It's kinda like prostitution? Some places it's illegal and some it isn't. Most don't enforce the laws on it very much even if it is illegal but I guess Daukhrame does. Or Song's just incompetent at it which ALSO seems highly probable.

Even places where it's legal (like Vheshrame) you're supposed to work at a service with an office and have I dunno a permit or a license or whatever. You're not allowed to just wander the university yelling CLEY FOR SALE ewwwwww.
