9 Chirreb 4385: Scream and Leap
Apr. 12th, 2011 07:37 am(This actually happened on 5 Chirreb but I'm writing on 9 Chirreb)
Since Mirhandrax had charged in there didn't seem much point in trying to hide because all the bandits were staring in our direction now. I wasn't too upset because it was kind of a relief to be DOING SOMETHING and not just watching and waiting and waiting and watching forever.
I swooped in behind Mirhandrax -- we were all still flying from the Little Bird charm -- along with Windchime, Chain Lightning, and Nightbloom. Purrzhon skulked around in the orchard and Trust was too surprised to do anything, I think.
The bandits saw us coming OF COURSE. The four still outside were mewellicaps -- those are wedge-shaped flying nonprimes with long tails that end in a poisoned spike, and mouths with a flesh-eating spell to dissolve what they bite. They took to the air and shot the spikes in their tails at Mirhandrax and Nightbloom but only one spike hit. Nightbloom and I swooped after them which I think surprised the mewellicaps because they're not used to Primes flying. Windchime and Chain Lightning went at them from above while Nightbloom engaged with sword and staff. Between Nightbloom and Windchime, one of the mewellicaps was nearly dead before I was even close. I cast Remedy for Corpordor on Nightbloom's tail-spike-inflicted injury to make the bandits think I was the healer and then dodged around in waterform while nonprimes tried to bite me. Mirhandrax was ignoring the bandits to go for the house. Two of the mewellicaps fell back to go for the house too and attacked Mirhandrax from behind. Mirhandrax hefted his axe and spun around as one descended to bite him and that gigantic axeblade nearly cut it in two. It flopped around in the air pitifully for a moment before its bound Heal the Awful Wound glued it back together and another healing spell papered over much of the damage.
Then a bolt from Chain Lightning killed it again. The other mewellicap near Mirhandrax tried to rise out of range which would've worked better if we couldn't all fly. Mirhandrax turned back to the house just as a Cani came out.
The Cani was holding a Rassimel boy in front of him like a Prime shield, a sword to the boy's throat. "Drop your weapons or I'll cut his head off!"
All of us froze. I tried to remember if Trust had Rejoin the Severed Head.
"Do it now!" the Cani yelled, cutting back on the boy's throat until he bled. Mirhandrax's battleaxe crashed to the ground. I cast Change Places to swap positions with the boy.
This probably would've been a better idea if I hadn't been flying fifteen feet off the ground at the time.
The Rasssimel boy flailed around in the air and cried out as he fell to the ground. Since I was in waterform I was much smaller than the boy and squirmed out of the Cani's arms before he quite knew what had happened. Mirhandrax roared and charged the Cani and crushed him with his bare hands. And teeth. And feet. It wasn't pretty. Mirhandrax didn't actually rip his head off though, so bound spells brought the bandit back and then there was more of a tussle especially after another Cani came to back him up. The Cani were TOUGH! I hammercast Nowhere Prison on one twice because he resisted the first time. He didn't resist the second though.
Trust had rushed out to fix up the Rassimel boy as soon as he fell. One of the mewellicaps moved to go after Trust or maybe the boy but changed its mind after Chain Lightning lightning-bolted it.
By the time I'd successfully imprisoned one of the Cani the bandits had figured out they were losing. Some of them tried to run away but our ulgrane lightning-bolted them and/or chased them down. Except for the Khtsoyis that Purrzhon caught trying to sneak out the back with a hostage. Purrzhon and she fought it out claw-to-tentacle for a while until the rest of us were able to reinforce him.
In the end we killed all of them, some two or three times before they either stayed dead or surrendered on recovery. Both of the Cani and two mewellicaps surrendered. (The second Cani surrendered when he came back from nowhere to find us surrounding him and everybody else on his side captive or dead). Purrzhon wanted to kill the mewellicaps instead of taking them prisoner but Mirhandrax insisted on accepting their surrender and then he wasn't going to let Purrzhon kill them out of hand.
Which meant we had to figure out what to do with them all.

Date: 2011-04-13 12:04 am (UTC)Uhhh. I think I'm not allowed to tell you what happens or what you say then. I have a feeling that if I try, an angel of Kaimiri will make sure that information that directly pertains to what you do in the future (or whatever) won't get there. I could *TRY*, of course...

Date: 2011-04-14 10:39 pm (UTC)Hmmm. As best I can tell, if you want to get something to us REALLY urgently, you might want to put it in the replies, since, for me at least, the actual full entries seem to have a minimum delay, but I don't think the replies have that same sort of delay?
